BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has been infected with the Coronavirus. The former India captain has been taken to the hospital. At present, he is in isolation. Ganguly is admitted to Woodland Hospital in Kolkata. Ganguly’s Covid-19 test report came positive on Monday night. Ganguly has been hospitalized for the second time this year. It is to be known that these days there are reports of the rapid spread of the new Omicron variant of Coronavirus across the country.
Sourav Ganguly has received both the doses of Corona vaccine and he was travelling continuously. He was admitted to the hospital on Monday night as a precaution. His RT PCR test came positive. A BCCI source said, “He was taken to Woodlands Nursing Home. He has been given medicine and his condition is stable.” Ganguly was admitted to the hospital twice earlier this year. He underwent emergency angioplasty after heart problems. His elder brother Snehasish Ganguly was also a victim of corona infection this year.
Sourav Ganguly has been in constant headlines recently. Before India toured South Africa, Ganguly made a statement on the captaincy of Virat Kohli, which caused an earthquake in Indian cricket. After India’s disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup, Virat Kohli was suddenly dropped from the captain of the ODI team and Rohit Sharma was given the captaincy. Sourav Ganguly later revealed that he had requested Kohli not to step down from the T20 captaincy. But Virat Kohli refuted Ganguly’s claim in a press conference.
Virat Kohli said that no request was made to him not to give up the captaincy. One and a half hours before the selection of the Test team for the South Africa tour, he got information about his removal from the captaincy. In the Ganguly-Kohli controversy, many former veteran players blamed the attitude of the BCCI President.
