Scientists have found a new weapon to eradicate Corona! ‘Gene variant’ will save the world

For a long time, people are facing the havoc of Corona and still, there is no sign of any kind of relief from it. Meanwhile, some Swedish researchers have made a big claim in a discovery. Researchers have discovered a special gene variant that can protect against severe corona infection. An international team led by researchers from the Karolinska Institutet in Sweden found this variant by studying people of different origins.

This study has been published in the journal ‘Nature Journal’. In which it has been told that genes can affect the effect of corona infection. From this, it can be ascertained how much a person has been affected by corona infection.

In earlier studies, researchers found that people of European descent had a special piece of DNA. People with the presence of a particular fragment of DNA have a 20 percent lower risk of severe infection with Covid. To identify this gene variant, the scientists included those people in the study in which this particular DNA was present.

These included 2,787 people of African origin and 1,30,997 people from six different groups who were hospitalized due to corona infection.

Jennifer Huffman, the lead author of the study and researcher at VA Boston Healthcare System, said that ‘the similar protection present in people of African descent prompted us to identify a specific gene variant (rs10774671-G) of DNA that protects corona. does. Researchers said that this protective variant was found in 80 percent of people of African descent.

According to the researchers, the protease gene variant (rs10774671-G) determines the length of the protein encoded by the gene OAS1. Some earlier studies have also shown that this longer variant of the protein is more effective at breaking down SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. In addition, Professor Brent Richards of McGill University in Canada said, “We are beginning to better understand the genetic risk factors that can help in creating new medicines against corona.
