Meanwhile, West Bengal Covid-19 update caseload rose to 19,93,606 on Sunday, when 3,427 more people tested positive for the virus, down 85 from the previous day’s figures, the health department said in a bulletin.

The state recorded 33 new coronavirus fatalities, bringing the death toll to 20,583.

The number of new cases and deaths on Saturday was 3,512 and 35, respectively.

The bulletin said that eight of the latest deaths were reported from Kolkata, followed by six in North 24 Parganas, five in Howrah and four in Hooghly districts.

It said that 521 new cases of Covid infection were reported from Kolkata and 373 new cases from North 24 Parganas districts.

The number of active cases was 31,562, down 6,356 from the previous day.

The positivity rate increased from 5.65 per cent 24 hours ago to 6 percent.

The state tested 57,085 samples for coronavirus, bringing the total number of such clinical trials to 2.32 million.

During the day, a total of 9,750 patients were discharged from health facilities, bringing the total number of recoveries to 19,41,461.

The bulletin states that coronavirus patients have a recovery rate of 97.38 percent and a mortality rate of 1.03 percent.
